THE REST GIVER
Sabbath means rest, and Christ is that Sabbath.
God will give you a peace of mind and take care of you if you are in that rest.
Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into His rest (Sabbath), any of you should seem to come short of it.
UNBELIEF BRINGS SHORTCOMINGS.
4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached (taught), as well as unto them : but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
THEY ALL HEARD THE GOSPEL.
FAITH BRINGS THAT BELIEF.
GOD IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN GIVE US A PEACE OF MIND.
4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, "As I have sworn in My wrath, if they shall enter into My rest :" although the works were finished from the foundation* of the world.
THE WORKS OF HIS REST, OF HIS SALVATION, WAS FINISHED BEFORE THE OVERTHROW OF SATAN (KATABOLE IN THE GREEK).
4:4 For He spake in a certain place of the seventh day from all His works."
4:5 And in this place again, "If they shall enter into My rest."
HE ALWAYS HAD IT AVAILABLE TO US.
4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief :
UNBELIEF = DISOBEDIENCE.
DISOBEDIENCE IS NOT A GOOD THING TO BRING INTO YOUR FAMILY.
4:7 Again, He limiteth a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after so long a time ; as it is said, "Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts."

4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would He not afterward have spoken of another day.
JESUS = JOSHUA (not Jesus).
JOSHUA DID NOT GIVE THEM THAT REST (SOME FAILED TO GO INTO THE PROMISE LAND), JESUS DOES.
4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
THE GREAT DAY OF "REST" UNDER THE RULE OF THE GREAT "PRIEST (KING) UPON HIS THRONE." (ZECHARIAH 6:13).
4:10 For he that entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His.
THESE THINGS WERE TO TAKE OUT THE BAD, AND BRING ON THE GOOD.
4:11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
LET IT BE YOUR DESIRE TO ENTER INTO CHRIST'S REST, NOT THE DOCTRINES AND TRADITIONS OF MEN.
4:12 For the word of God is quick (alive), and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
THE WORD OF GOD IS ALIVE, AND POWERFUL, AND SHARPER THAN A TWO EDGED SWORD. GOD CAN LOOK INTO YOUR OWN HEART.
"IN THE LAST DAY" MAN WILL BE JUDGED BY THE SAME WORD ON WHICH HE NOW SITS IN JUDGMENT. "DIVIDING ASUNDER OF SOUL AND SPIRIT" MEANS NOT ONLY DIFFERENTIATING BETWEEN THAT WHICH IS BEGOTTEN OF THE FLESH AND THAT WHICH IS BEGOTTEN OF THE SPIRIT (JOHN 3:6) IN THE INDIVIDUAL ; BUT ALSO BETWEEN THE NATURAL MAN AND THE SPIRITUAL MAN.

KATABOLE = DISRUPTION, OR RUIN.
The word is connected with the "world" (cosmos), and therefore the expression should be rendered "the disruption (or ruin) of the world", clearly referring to the condition indicated in Genesis 1:2, and described in II Peter 3:5-6. For the earth was not created tohu (void), but became so, as stated in the Hebrew of Genesis 1:2 and confirmed by II Peter 3:6, where "the world that then was by the word of God" (Genesis 1:1), perished, and "the heavens and the earth which are now, by the same word" were created (Genesis 2:4), and are "kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment" (II Peter 3:7) which shall usher in the "new heavens and the new earth" of II Peter 3:13.

Why that world perished ? Because of Satan's fall from grace.
He was the main hand of God ; He guarded the Mercy Seat. However, he thought he was so great and powerful, he wanted to be God. He took on his side 1/3 of God's children. God did not want to destroy 1/3 of his children (everyone was on a spiritual body then), therefore, He destroyed the age, and created this flesh age to give everyone a chance ; to love Him or to love Satan. Everyone's memory was erased.
