THE TWO WITNESSES

                            THE TWO WITNESSES OF THE GREAT TRIBULATION

                            Moses and Elijah are coming back to witness against Satan.

Zechariah 4:1    And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,

4:2    And said unto me, "What seest thou ?" And I said, "I have looked, and behold, a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof :"

THIS CHAPTER OF ZECHARIAH ADDRESSES THE TWO WITNESSES.

SEVEN PIPES = THIS LOOKS FORWARD TO THE FUTURE, AS DESCRIPED IN 

REV. 11:3-12.

4:3   And the two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.

TWO OLIVE TREES = THE TWO WITNESSES.

4:4    So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, "What are these, my lord?"

4:5    Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, "Knowest thou not what these be ? And I said, "No, my lord."

4:6    Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, "This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

ZERUBBABEL = BORN IN BABEL (CONFUSION). HOWEVER, HE DID COME OUT OF IT.

GOD'S SPIRIT WOULD PUT THAT TRUTH ON HIS ELECT. IT WON'T BE DONE BY MEN BUT BY GOD.

4:7    Who art thou, O great mountain ? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain : and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, 'Grace grace unto it. ' "

O GREAT MOUNTAIN = ONE WORLD ORDER.

HEADSTONE = CHRIST IS THE CHIEF HEADSTONE.

4:8    Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

4:9    "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house ; his hands shall also finish it ; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

4:10    For who hath despised the day of small things ? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven ; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth."

PLUMMET = CARPENTERS TOOL.

4:11    Then answered I, and said unto him, "What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof ?

TWO OLIVE TREES = TWO WITNESSES.

MAKE A NOTE OF REV. 11.

4:12    And I answered again, and said unto him, "What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves ?"

4:13    And he answered me and said, "Knowest thou not what these be ?" And I said, "No, my lord."

4:14    Then said he, "These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth."

THE TWO ANOINTED ONES = THE TWO SONS OF OIL IN THE HEBREW ; LOOKING FORWARD AGAIN TO THE FUTURE, TO THE "TWO WITNESSES" OF REV. 11:3-13.

THE LORD OF THE WHOLE EARTH = ADON IN THE HEBREW, IS HERE SPECIALLY ASSOCIATED WITH MESSIAH'S DOMINION IN THE EARTH.

LET'S GO TO REVELATION 11.

Revelation 11:3    And I will give power unto My two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth."

IT'S TEN DAYS LONGER THAN 42 MONTHS*.

IN OTHER WORDS, THEY WILL BE HERE TEN DAYS LONGER THAN SATAN (THEY ARE COMING TEN DAYS BEFORE THE BAD ONE ARRIVES).

SACKCLOTH = SYMBOLIC OF MOURNING.

11:4    These are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks, standing before the God of the earth.

GOD ALWAYS FORWARNS.

11:5    And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies ; and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

11:6    These have power to shut heaven, that it rained not in the days of their prophecy : and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

THEY WILL HAVE SUPERNATURAL POWERS.

WATERS = PEOPLE, NATIONS (REV. 17:15).

11:7    And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

THE BEAST IS ONE OF THE OFFICES OF SATAN.

MAKE A NOTE OF REV. 17:8.

THIS HAPPENS IN THE SIX SEAL, SIX VIAL, SIX TRUMP.

SATAN WILL KILL THEM. 

11:8    And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

STREET = PLATEIA IN THE GREEK = SQUARE.

OUR LORD WAS CRUCIFIED IN GOLGOTHA.

11:9     And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

WHY THEY WEREN'T BURRIED ?

BECAUSE THE KENITES (SATAN'S OFFSPRING) DID NOT WANT THE SAME THING HAPPENING WITH THEM LIKE IT DID WITH JESUS.  THEY THOUGHT THE PEOPLE WOULD SAY THEY WERE RESURRECTED. 

11:10    And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another ; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

THE WHOLE WORLD WILL REJOICE FROM THE DEATH OF THESE TWO PROPHETS.

11:11    And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet ; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

A PARALYZING FEAR IN THE GREEK, FELL UPON THE PEOPLE WHEN THEY SAW THE TWO PROPHETS STANDING UP.

11:12    And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, "Come up hither." And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud ; and their enemies beheld them.

CLOUD = GOD'S VEHICLE (NOT A REAL CLOUD).

11:13    And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand : and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

MEN SEVEN THOUSAND = SATAN'S ANGELS, THE FALLEN ONES (JUDE).

11:14     The second woe is past ; and behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

11:15    And the seventh angel sounded ; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of our LORD, and of His Christ ; and He shall reign forever and ever."

CHRIST HAS RETURNED, ON THE SEVEN SEAL, SEVEN VILE, SEVEN TRUMP.

LET'S FINISH OUR STUDY WITH MALACHI 4.

Malachi 4:5    Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD :

GOD IS TELLING US HERE THAT HE IS SENDING ELIJAH BEFORE CHRIST'S RETURN.

4:6    And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS ELIJAH.  BUT HE CAME IN THE SPIRIT OF ELIJAH AND THEY DID NOT RECEIVE HIM (MATT. 11:7-15, LUKE 1:17).

FOR THE ONES WHO HAVE THE TRUTH WON'T BE A CURSE.

THEIR FATHERS = THE REAL TRUTH WILL DRIVE HIM TO THE FATHER, AND TO THE FALSE ONE (BECAUSE THEY WON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH).

How do I think Moses will be the other prophet that will come with Elijah ?

Moses is the law giver, and he appeared in the mount of transfiguration with Elijah (Matt. 17).

Elijah did not die a physical death...he was taken to heaven by God.

  The devil disputed with the archangel Michael about the body of Moses (Jude 9). The devil claimed Moses for the death-state, but God raised him as representative of those hereafter to be raised, as Elijah was to be caught up without dying.

NOTE :  THE FORTY TWO MONTHS OF REV. 11:3 WAS SHORTENED BY JESUS TO FIVE MONTHS (REV. 9:10-11).  WHY ? FOR THE ELECT'S SAKE HE SHORTENED THE TIME (MATT. 24:21-22, MARK 13:19-20).

SATAN IS SUPERNATURAL, AND HE COULD DECEIVE EVEN THE ELECT IF HE WAS HERE FOR A LONG TIME.
