THE ASHERAH

 The word "Asherah" is from the word "ashar", to be straight, erect, or upright. From this comes the meaning in a moral sense, to be upright, hence, to prosper, or be happy. The Asherah was so called because it was something set upright or erect in the ground, and worshipped.

The word is always rendered grove or groves in the A.V. ; and always left as a proper name in the R.V.

Like every form of "religion", it had to do with the "flesh".

Asherah was originally a tree , symbolical of the "tree of life", it was an object of reverence and veneration. Then came the perversion of the earlier idea which simply honored the origin of life ; and it was corrupted and debased into the organ of procreation, which was symbolized by the form and shape given to the Asherah.

The principal factor in this form of Canaanite idolatry is that it was not a primitive conception of a religious rite, but the corruption of an earlier idea which began with honoring the origin of life.

Satan has placed his trap on most churches and households, by replacing the High Sabbath (Christ's resurrection) with bunnies and eggs. It's idolatry and we as Christians should not have a part in it.

The word Easter came from "Asherah", "Ashtoreth", or "Ishtar" a fertility goddess, being representative of the productive principal of life ; and Baal being representative of the generative principle.

They used to worship "Ishtar" in the Spring, and had bunnies and eggs like today.

It was connected with Baal worship. In Babylonia, this "spring goddess" is identified with Planet Venus.  It was Phallys image of Isaiah 57:8, and the image of the male, Ezekiel 16:17.

These symbols, in turn became the incentive to all forms of impurity which were a part of its libidinous worship, with the swarms of devotees involved its obscene orgies.

Over the years it was changed by the Anglo-Saxons, and Germans to "Ishtar" and creeped into the churches and most households (Satan has a lot to do with it, deceiving biblical illiterate pastors and men).

NOTE:  Early Romanism in amalgamation with the very ancient "spring festival" to the fertility goddess, instead of the true Passover. The day was fixed on a Sunday immediately following the 14th day of the Pascal moon.

This holiday worshipped the "queen of heaven", or the "sun god" at sunrise.

Passover was only replaced by Easter in pagan churches pretending to be Christian (history).

Jesus has some very harsh warnings about any adoption of pagan practices, being used to worship the true God (John 8:55, 15:10).
